Bioparc Valencia (Valencia)

Founded 2008 · Spain

BIOPARC Valencia is a revolutionary zoo concept in the heart of Spain's third city — a fully immersive African savanna where lions, gorillas, elephants and giraffes live in barrier-free habitats designed for zooinmersión. Opened in February 2008, the 10-hectare park has redefined what a modern zoo can be, placing visitors inside equatorial Africa, Madagascar and wetland ecosystems without visible fences.

Developed by Rainforest, specialists in immersive habitat design, BIOPARC Valencia proves that conservation, education and wonder can coexist in a single unforgettable experience. The Fundación BIOPARC extends this mission into the wild, supporting projects that protect the very species visitors encounter face to face.

About the zoo

Signature Habitats

BIOPARC's design philosophy removes traditional barriers so visitors feel present in the animals' world.

  • African Savanna — lions, hyenas, elephants, giraffes and antelope on open plains
  • Gorilla Forest — western lowland gorillas in an immersive forest setting
  • Madagascar — lemurs in baobab forest
  • Wetlands — Nile crocodiles and equatorial river species
  • Walk-through areas with panoramic viewing and hidden moats
  • Multi-species habitats with lagoons and kopjes

Must-See Experience

Hidden moats, integrated landscaping and careful sight lines create the illusion of sharing the same space as lions on the savanna or gorillas in the forest. Keeper encounters and seasonal events deepen the connection between visitors and wildlife.

Conservation Impact

The Fundación BIOPARC channels visitor support into in-situ and ex-situ conservation, from African breeding programmes to environmental education for schools across the Valencia region. Every ticket contributes to protecting the wild relatives of the animals visitors meet.
